Before applying for an education loan, organise the expected cost of study and the documents needed for lender assessment.

Prepare a study budget

List tuition, accommodation and other necessary expenses. Ask the lender which costs are eligible and what contribution you may need to make.

Collect documents

Prepare admission and fee information, academic records, identity documents and any co-applicant income details requested by the lender. Requirements vary by course, institution and application.

Understand repayment

Ask when interest starts, whether it accumulates during a moratorium, and when instalments begin. Compare security requirements, fees and the total cost. A moratorium is not necessarily an interest-free period.

Read the education loan guide before requesting an offer.
